Who We Are And What We Represent

Hawaiian Music like the culture that inspires it, is largely unknown outside the island state of Hawaii. Our owner/president LD Reynolds wanted to use any technology available to effectively perpetuate Hawaii's musical and cultural contribution to the world community. In 1997 It was decided to utilize a combination of the internet and an audio streaming program called "Real Audio".  Later on Windows Media was utilized, now in 2003, programming is heard in true mp3 stereo.

Prior to the internet, the only way one could be exposed to Hawaiian Music was to come to Hawaii. LD observed that even with network radio and television, every outsider's concept of Hawaiian Music was Elvis Presley singing "Blue Hawaii" or, at best, Don Ho singing his signature song "Tiny Bubbles" with an intoxicated  audience singing along. LD maintains that these examples are not only weak, but indeed, not even considered true Hawaiian Music by Native Hawai'ians and Hawaiian Music connoisseurs. It was because of this Pacific Internet Broadcast Services and its first project "Hawaiian Jamz" was founded. The tradition continues with the new live broadcast "Hawaiian Hits Live!" which replaced Hawaiian Jamz in January of 2003 and now under the banner of our new non profit corporation, Pacific Broadcasting Service.

Everyone who works with Pacific Broadcasting does so voluntarily. All expenses not covered by donations and grants are taken care of by conscientious local Maui businesses who underwrite our efforts by purchasing banners on the web site. Pacific Internet Broadcasting Service still functions as a commercial production studio for radio, both terrestrial and on the internet. Both entities share office space and studio facilities on Maui.
