Maui Underwater SCUBA Weddings

If you are certified divers and would like to be married submerged by the turquoise blue of Maui's waters,
Eve will happily take you on a dive while you "take the plunge!"

Wonderful sites along the Makena Coast and Molokini await you!

Logistics of the ceremony can be fully customized to your preferences.
A three part ceremony is the favorite of our diving brides and grooms:

Part One: The initial ceremony begins on the boat or shore prior to the dive
Part Two: Using a combination of hand signals and underwater slates, the vows are exchanged underwater.
Rings and leis can also be exchanged underwater and even the kiss can happen in the deep.
Part Three: Finish the dive and complete the celebration on the boat.

This format allows you to both experience the novelty and fun of being married underwater and the romance of hearing your partner state his/her vows to you.

Above Water on the Boat (replace "bride" and "groom" with your name).

“Bride” and “Groom”, may this ___day of ___, in the year 2008, be a moment in time to be remembered and cherished. Today, we celebrate your love. Love is the foundation, the very essence of life. It must be cared for, tended to, and nourished if it is to grow, become strong, and endure.

We say in Hawaii:
Aloha ika ho'o manawanui, Aloha ika loko maika'i, Aloha ike kahi, ike kahi
Love is patient. Love is kind. Love begets love.
Marriage requires the faith and commitment of two people to love, to stand by each other, and to support each other through both the good times and the difficult.

Marriage is an act of faith and a personal commitment to a growing love. It is a very special spiritual connection of two people united on a common path. It is the bringing together of love and trust into a single focus to achieve happiness, attain personal growth and spiritual fulfillment through commitment.

You have chosen to get married underwater, which is a perfect metaphor for maintaining your relationship. Remember that no matter how rough the surface conditions are, just a few feet below the surface the sea are calm and tranquil waters. Throughout your relationship, draw on this metaphor to give you strength. No matter how rough the surface is, no matter how upset you may get, just below the surface there is a sea of love-tranquil, calm, there for you to access when you need it.

Welcome, “Bride” and “Groom”, to this moment in your lives, to this place you have come to in each other's hearts. And, may this shining hour be an open door through which you go now to build the dearest of all human relationships: that of two best friends growing old together in marriage, always fathoming deeper depths, and discovering richer facets of one another's soul.

May your love grow and bring you peace and joy on life's path. From each other, may you always find communication, compassion, tolerance, understanding, and forgiveness. And, to each other, may you always be best friends, companions, lovers, partners, and teachers.

Underwater: Exchange of Vows on Slates, exchange of leis and kiss …optional

On Slates: “Groom” and “Bride”, you are here today to declare and to strengthen your love, and to pledge to each other the beginning of a new life together.

On Slates: “Groom”, do you receive “Bride” as your wedded wife to love, comfort, respect, and to share your life with from this day forward?

On Slates: “Bride”, do you receive “Groom” as your wedded husband to love, comfort, respect, and to share your life with from this day forward?

Underwater Dancing is optional as well!

Above Water (you can exchange rings underwater if you want…just a little scary regarding potential loss of rings….)

We will now seal this promise of marriage with these wedding rings. These rings are symbols of the unbroken unity of love, now to be continued in your married life. The circle has no beginning and no end, it is eternal and everlasting.

Made in the form of the circle, these rings represent the truth of the law of life:
'As we give to each other, we receive from each other.'
So, as you give and receive these rings, let your hearts be joined together in one unbroken circle.

Bless this ring, O Lord, bless “Groom” who gives it and “Bride” who receives it. Bless their union with patience, understanding and eternal joy.

As you place the ring on your beloved's hand and as you receive the ring from the hand of your beloved, remember that this will be the first hand extended to pick you up when you have fallen down and it will be the first hand raised to toast all of your joys and all of your successes from this day forward and forevermore.

(You can choose the traditional wedding vows….if you prefer!)

Holding the ring on her hand and looking into “Bride's” eyes, say these words to her:

“Bride”, I marry you,
and commit my faithful love.
I have chosen you above all others
for my partner and companion.
I shall love you,
and honor you,
and share with you life's joys and life's difficulties.
In sorrow, I shall comfort you,
In times of need, I shall be there for you,
In good times, I shall rejoice with you,
From this day forward and forevermore.

Bless this ring, O God, bless “Bride” who gives it and “Groom” who receives it. Bless their union with kindness, friendship and unconditional love.

Holding the ring on his hand and looking into “Groom”'s eyes, say these words to him:

“Groom”, I marry you,
and commit my faithful love.
I have chosen you above all others
for my partner and companion.
I shall love you,
and honor you,
and share with you life's joys and life's difficulties.
In sorrow, I shall comfort you,
In times of need, I shall be there for you,
In good times, I shall rejoice with you,
From this day forward and forevermore.

May we pause in prayer and bless this marriage:
Dear Lord,
May “Groom” and “Bride's” pathway of happiness be recognized through the light of love, causing their lives to unfold in harmony, abundance, health and self-satisfaction.
May their home always radiate an environment of love, well-being, happiness and unity.
And whoever enters their home, may they be blessed and inspired by the harmony and love that dwells there.
May they realize that true marriage is a symbol of infinite oneness that will enable them to live faithfully together, and to perform and keep the covenant and vows made now so sincerely between them.
We, here now, believe they live in the midst of love, peace, health and security and shall abide accordingly.
Amen.

By the power vested in me by the State of Hawaii, I now pronounce you husband and wife!

Those whom Spirit has joined together let no one separate.
You may seal this blessing with a holy kiss!
Congratulations!
